The Power of Attraction states that by thinking positively, positive energy will be attracted back to you. I’m here to tell you that positive thinking, by itself, is not all that it’s cracked up to be. Negative thinking is really the easiest way of getting what you want.
Don’t believe me?
What happens when you think these negative thoughts?
-
“I’m going to Las Vegas to donate my money to the casinos.”
-
“I don’t deserve a loving relationship.”
-
“I have to suffer in order to be successful.”
-
“I can never lose weight.”
These thoughts are thoughts that will manifest One Hundred Percent of the time (barring some weird glitch in the conscious fabric).
If you saw The Secret movie or read the book, you know that there are some good points made about the power of attraction but if you went home and tried the techniques with nothing more than thinking, “positive thoughts, think positive thoughts,” you will have likely gotten Nowhere.
Negative thinking, on the other hand, immediately manifests itself.
What is the difference?
Don’t despair. There is one secret that The Secret movie does not elaborate on that is very important in understanding why the success rate of negative thought far surpasses that of positive thinking. This is, in a word, is Passion.
The passion or the emotional energy you put into your negative thought is oftentimes greater and more focused than the energy you put into positive thinking. Much like a laser beam that gets the job done forthwith; the negative thought is quick, focused and strong.
So why can’t we use “quick,” “focused,” and “strong,” win over our positive thinking instead? The answer is conditioning. We are conditioned to think that negative action is more acceptable than positive thought and often times, we sabotage ourselves by giving up the passion in our positive thinking and make excuses why “a good thing” would never work.
It all started when you were an infant.
You cried when you wanted food or wanted someone to empty your diaper. You were immediately rewarded with food and got cleaned up, right; further strengthening your negative actions.
So with a little imagination, we easily carry on this negative pattern into adulthood. Using the examples above, we may feel that:
-
If I tell everyone that I will win in Las Vegas, and I lose, than that would be embarrassing.
-
There is no such thing as a perfect relationship.
-
Everyone knows that you need to put in blood sweat and tears (no pain, no gain) to become successful.
-
I’m too old to lose weight.
You have given up before you’ve begun. Remember how Musashi used a mind control technique against Kojiro? By impressing negative thought processes on yourself, you are essentially sabotaging your outcome; throwing away your scabbard before the fight.
Our thoughts, negative or positive, come from our past memories that we have stored in our subconscious mind. We use our experiences or what we perceive from our environment to formulate our thinking patterns. These erroneous perceptions, or pictures in our mind, come from:
-
Childhood
-
Culture and belief systems.
-
Subconscious images
-
What we observe
-
Life circumstances
-
Feelings we encounter or express
Having said this, while it is highly possible to use positive thinking to manifest your desires, if we do not get to heart of our thoughts, the thought will not manifest to reality. You can write “think positive, think positive” 10,000 times on the chalkboard of your mind but if you don’t truly believe it, you might as well take an eraser to it.
Change how you see your negative past experiences into positive, and embed the revised story, in your mind, with a permanent magic marker, if you will. Rewrite any nuances of negative thought with positive prose.
Only then, might we learn how the power of positive thinking can actually be manifested using positive thoughts. Until then, heat up the crock pot, there’s going to be something good in the stew tonight.
