As I promised from Confessions – Part 1, here are the eight steps towards developing good self-esteem in yourself; you’re never to old to learn. Or, share it with someone.

The first step to developing self-esteem is figuring out the root of the problem, then work on it. If hiding who you are is really the problem, or has always been the problem, then let the real you shine through. For this alone, you have to give the cast members of, the VH1 television series, Confessions of a Teen Idol kudos for putting their personal lives out there, so publicly, for us to see.

Step Two

The second step is see who you really are. Visualize the real you and learn about yourself.

This will be the key to developing self-esteem that will improve who you are and what you will become.

Step Three and Four

Steps three and four include accepting responsibility for you and deciding what, in life, you can and cannot control. Those things that you cannot control, let go of and move on. By accepting responsibility for yourself you are taking control of your own happiness. Therefore, you are making decisions that are best for you and ultimately, adding this happy, positive energy into the universal consciousness.

It is called Finding YOUR Purpose in Life (and you’re helping others at the same time).

Step Five and Six

Making anxiety your friend instead of foe is step five. This step prompts you to pinpoint what your anxieties are and deal with them head on.

Step six is working on your personal growth, which goes hand in hand with getting rid of anxieties that hold you back from doing what you want. Developing self-esteem through personal growth will help you overcome your fears in life and will, of course, make you a stronger person.

A side effect of this is that you will find that you will experience less and less anxious.

Steps Seven

Step seven is to take risks. Taking risks help in developing self-esteem by building your confidence. Therefore, you will be a more confident person in everything you do.

The Confessions cast members are doing just that. They are taking the risk of putting it all out there in the hopes of bettering themselves. They are also giving Us the opportunity to learn from their experiences.

Learn From Your Own Mistakes

And yes, you will make more of your own mistakes. This is step eight. Take advantage of these “mistakes” and learn from them for they are not really mistakes but, rather, the next step towards your evolutionary growth and mental health.
