Confessions-Part 1

January 9th, 2009 · 4 Comments

I must confess that I am not, nor have I ever been, not even in my wildest dreams and visions, a Teen Idol.

Sorry if I got you going with that remark but I wanted to recognize the television series Confessions of a Teen Idol. Not because I am fan of reality television, which I am. And not because I noticed that one of my friends, Billy Hufsey, is a cast member on the show, because he is.

But, because of the inspirational message the show conveys; and it helps that it is entertaining!

A little background here: I met Billy through one of my blogs and, me, being me, I didn’t pay much attention to what he was known for or what he did for a living. I just liked the fact that he was a thoughtful, patient friend and a good person.

Anyway, a few days ago, I happened, accidentally, on a new television show on VH1. I started watching it, initially, because I saw that Billy was on it. Though, when I realized that the show was basically about former teen idols that had become emotionally challenged by their young stardom and were looking to become more successful in their lives by developing their mental health…

I was hooked!

Side Note: Show Billy some support at his page. Tell him, “Lilly sent you.”

i like to dance Confessions Part 1

He’ll get a kick out of that. (You’ll have to be a VH1 Friends member though to comment on his page OR check out my comment in the show’s section where you can give some blog love to the entire cast without being a member.)

IMHO: The Show is Really about Positive Self-Esteem

Self-esteem issues take many different forms such as addiction, bad habits, depression and anxiety and can even manifests itself physically. Most of us have some form of self-esteem issues, in one way or another and it behooves us to minimize as many of our issues as possible; for our mental, physical and emotional well-being.

People suffer from self-esteem issues on a daily basis.

Do you care about what others think of you?

Of course most of us care what other people think of us, in some form or another. It is a natural part of life.

In positive ways, it drives us to succeed in life, take care of our families, and creates our vision of what we want to achieve in life.

Self-esteem plays a big role in people’s lives by helping them shape who they are and who they want to be. Therefore, developing good self-esteem at an early age and all throughout life is very important to one’s success in life.

But when our self-esteem turns debilitating and destructive, it may be time to begin addressing your problems.

Some people have bigger issues with self-esteem than others do. In the real-life drama of the cast members in “Confessions of a Teen Idol” had added obstacle to overcome; the perceived adulation that came with their fame during their formative years.

    Thanks Jeff,
    Appreciate your comment.

    Side Note:
I am having a little problem commenting on Billy’s VH1 site so I couldn’t leave a message that I was sending people over to comment. Hah, oh well.
