Have you noticed that every, single successful body-mind healing technique somehow involves focusing of the mind? It could involve the practitioner/healer whose mind is focused on the area of healing or a combination of the healer and the client or just the client.
Techniques that involve physical contact enable not only the practitioner, but also the client, to actively participate. The client is able to physically visualize and focus on the location that is being worked on by touch or contact with the healer’s tools such as hot stones. A more well-known method, Acupuncture, uses needles.
Acupuncture
Acupuncture is hardly a new form of body-mind healing technique. In fact, acupuncture has been around for many thousands of years and has remained a staple of Chinese medicine to this very day. In time, traditional Chinese medicinal techniques such as acupuncture gained in popularity in the western world and have been embraced in the United States as a treatment for many ailments.
Acupuncture has gained a great deal of credibility in people’s eyes thanks to its successful treatment of a number of disorders. Fortunately, patients with chronic fatigue syndrome found relief with Acupuncture even when it was still thought of as an imaginary ailment.
Acupuncture treatment has become widely accepted even among most healthcare providers and health insurance companies.
Massage Therapy
Massage therapy is one of the oldest and simplest forms of therapy in the world. It is a system that involves stroking, pressing and kneading different areas of the body in order to relieve pain and to relax and tone the body.
The practice of massage has its roots in the ancient Chinese, Greek, Roman, Indian and Egyptian eras. It’s no wonder that there are so many variations and styles.
Massage does much more than create a pleasant sensation on the skin even though this is all most people care about. Massage also works on the soft tissues such as the muscles, tendons, and ligaments in the body in order to improve muscle tone. It helps by stimulating blood circulation in the body, thereby assisting the lymphatic system and improving the elimination of waste throughout the body.
You will find that not only does a great massage session affect you physically but mentally and emotionally as well because you feel enlightened and relaxed and this helps with your everyday way of thinking and behavior.
Some body-mind healing techniques that do not require poking and prodding can also produce amazing results.
Healing techniques such as Aromatherapy only require the sense of smell to produce results.
There are also visualization healing techniques that do not require any physical contact or use of the 5 senses; a sixth sense, if you will. This category is generally referred to as psychic or spiritual healing. For example:
- Reiki
- Signature Cell Healing
- Chakra Healing
I expect to expand these in further posts but for now, it’s important to note that the common denominator in all of the body-mind healing techniques is the aspect of focusing the mind.
